Hosting ActiveWorlds and Remote Administration

If you host your world with Alterlinks, you can now also request the possibility to use the Remote Administration Tool from Active Worlds to keep more control over your hosted world.
Both the Alterlinks Web interface for virtual worlds and the Remote Administration Tool work in parallel and offer you complementary possibilities for the administration of your world.

Remote Administration Tool :

The Remote Administration Tool allows you to connect from distance to your world hosted with Alterlinks.

This tool offers you several complementary options in addition to the Alterlinks Web interface :

• Reset your world
• Reload your Registry
• Perform dumps of attributes, property and terrain
• Load existing dumps of attributes, property and terrain

In addition, when entering the Properties of your world, you can also add or delete caretakers to your world :

Adding caretakers can be a solution when several people own or manage a world.
Care should be taken and only citizen numbers of people you really trust should be added. Indeed, once you add someone as caretaker, they will have full control over your virtual world.

NOTE : It should however be kept in mind that certain options provided by the Remote Administration Tool can be dangerous and can cause your world to go off-line. Special care should be taken when modifying for instance the caretakers of your world and the Reset option. You should not try to change the name of your world or its password as authentification will fail with Active Worlds universe server and your world will go automatically off-line.
Even in those cases, Alterlinks can restore a backup of your world.
