• Antivirus

A powerful antivirus filters all messages, incoming and outgoing, on our servers. If an email message contains an infection, it will be automatically deleted. A message will inform you at the bottom of the email.
Despite periodic updates of the antivirtus software, it could happen that a recent virus (most likely released the same day) is not detected yet by our antivirus.
The antivirus protection has to be considered as an extra but certainly not as a total protection for your computer.
Alterlinks will not be held responsable for possible damage caused by a virus received by email.

There are two possible reasons for rejection : your file might be larger in size than 2Mo or either you've protected your .zip file with a password.
The antivirus rejects all attachments which it can't scan, which includes files protected by a password.

• Someone using an Alterlinks account sends me "spam", what should I do ?

It could be that the owner of the account is not even aware.
We receive frequently spam complains and if we don't react to all of them it's not because of non-interesse.

Indeed, a growing number of viruses/worms of the last generation have the frustrating habbit to search for existing email addresses on an infected computer. When found, they can forward themselves "spoofing" any originating address they've found, existing or not.
If an infected computer stores an addressbook in which appears an Alterlinks contact, a virus can either send spam to these adresses but also use anyone of them as originating address, sometimes without the owner even notices this (most viruses/worms have their own SMTP capabilities).

You will find more information in our discussion forum where we've discussed spam issues several times.
If you think that it concerns spam for sure (messages with publicity contents, etc...), please send the concerning message(s) including all headers to abuse - alterlinks.fr (replace the - character with an @ character).
